Holy moly, what a ride! This book was a something a little out of the ordinary, so if you don't like dark fiction, skip this one. Joshua, who has a host of issues that he tries to understand throughout the book, takes Tamara who he has become obsessed with. He then attempts to train her as his captive, with some steamy scenes thrown in. I noticed some of the negative reviews slammed this, but hey, it's a work of fiction made to entertain, not inform. The interaction between the characters was okay for the most part and it follows the pattern of the male lead being a bit of a mongrel but the female lead being able to forgive this because he is broken and handsome. In real life this would annoy me, but it made an entertaining, if at times frustrating, read. Some of the scenes seemed like an afterthought, almost as though they were added just for the sake of stretching the story or adding an erotic scene. I won't go into it too much, but there was a section of the book when Tamara tries to desperately please Joshua and I found that a bit silly and rushed. Even though it was a bit unbelievable, especially where the female lead is trying to come to terms with being a kidnap victim and being attracted to her captor, I still really liked the book overall. It was different so it kept my attention. I'll purchase the next book in the series.

It’s not often that I open a book and don’t put it down till last page and what a page it was. Love ms Talbots work she just keeps getting better and better. If you like dark sexy scary hold your breath books get it. You will not be disappointed
The beginning was this book was slow but it gain momentum as it progressed and the twist and turn will leave you at the edge of your seat.
I couldn't put this book down..the price could be lower but good buy.
Really well written dark book. the story line was so well developed and it kept me on my toes. Character development was great. Must love dark reads to read this one. Some of it is rough. Great read, highly recommend
From page one, this author pulls you into the story and it is hard to put it down ! There are many twists and turns, some you see coming, some you never expected ! I cannot wait to read part two !
I gave up reading for awhile due to life situations and this was the first book I chose to get me back into the swing of reading again. I liked it, I thought it moved a little fast for me at first but towards the end it really pulled me in. Good way to start my reading journey again
I’d read Gingers 30 Days series and loved it. This book just went a little too far into totally destroying Tamara. The punishments were just too brutal for my taste. The book was extremely well written. The plot was sound and characters well developed. The twist was great. I just didn’t care for the total debasement of Tamara/Toy. I had insomnia and read the book straight through. I bought the 2nd book before I started reading this one so I will continue the story just to see how see how it plays out. I hope Tamara’s story concludes in the second book. Four Stars on this one. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
I'm returning this for a refund but I'm still trying to be generous with my reviews. Anyway, this book sounded so good and it ended up being on the low side of okay to where I don't want it sitting on my kindle and I want my four dollars back.
In short, the book is about a teen being kidnapped by her serial killer boss who then tries to beat her down and turn her into a slave to his liking. I don't know what I expect with these books anymore but I am tired of the setting constantly being in a remote mansion someplace and the chick isn't allowed to go outside. I'm also tired of, despite the fact the guy is a serial killer, rape is a line he won't cross and thus actual intercourse is stalled throughout the course of the book until the chick just begs for it.
The author did a great job painting the past of Joshua. It sounded real, but I felt some kind of disappointment when I realized he mainly kidnapped her to study human emotions. At least, I believe that was his initial reason for kidnapping her.
Well, this was a dull read for me. The scenes in the playroom were skimmed. I don't care for that kind of stuff and it was more dragged out than the actual sexual acts. Tamara was the same as any heroine in these kinds of stories. Scared at first. Finds the killer attractive but spends half the book trying to deny her body's reactions to his touch. Attempts to fool him with fake submission but have opposite thoughts on what she says. Finally breaks down and becomes that mindless zombie he wants.
But shock, towards the end she snaps out of that and just doesn't care and goes on to constantly insult him. That was interesting to read but to regret some of them later was annoying.
I don't know if I'll read the next book or not. The only difference between this book and so many others like is the stupid plot twist at the end. Nah, I won't spoil it.
