Enthralled Paranormal Diversions Melissa Marr Kelley Armstrong Books

This book lives up to it's title! This is an absolutely enthralling anthology and I'm so glad the ladies from The Smart Chicks got together to create this must have collection of short stories. This is the first anthology I've read where I've enjoyed each story. Some of the stories contained characters I've enjoyed reading about before and other's introduced me to new characters that I hope I'll get to read more about in future books. Since I can't pin point one specific favorite, I'll give you a brief run down about each of these enticing short stories.

Giovanni's Farewell by Claudia Gray
This is a sweet ghost story set in Rome, and introduces readers to twins, Ravenna and Cairo who have two different paranormal powers. I know I'm being vague, but there's a lot to this short story. I'm hoping I get to read more about in one of Claudia's upcoming releases.

Scenic Route by Carrie Ryan
I am not a big zombie fan, but I'm a Carrie Ryan zombie fan! If you've read her series you know what I'm talking about. This short story centers on two sisters trying to survive in a zombie infested world. Like her other books, this short story has a great complicated love interest.

Things About Love by Jackson Pearce
The first book I read by Jackson was her debut, As You Wish, and I love that this short story is like a companion to that story. With alternating points of views and her jinn mythology, I think Jackson Pearce fans will be anxious to go pick up As You Wish after they read this.

Red Run by Kami Garcia
This is another fabulous ghost story and one that left me wanting more! Set in the south, this short story has fabulous character chemistry, murder, mystery, and a lot of appeal. If Kami ever decides to expand Tommy's story, I'm totally buying the book.

Niederwald by Rachel Vincent
I've not yet read Rachel's YA series, but I'm guessing Sabine fans will really enjoy her story. I enjoyed getting to meet Sabine and after reading this, I'm even more excited to read the series, which I'll be reviewing towards the end of the month.

A Mortal Winter King by Melissa Marr
I loved being back in Melissa's fey world with Keenan and Donia's story. I won't say anything as this short story is a spoiler to those who've not yet picked up Darkest Mercy. Melissa's series is one of my favorite fey series.

Facing Facts by Kelley Armstrong
Wolves and ghosts, what a great combination! This is another fabulous short story and this one includes characters from Kelley's The Gathering. I've not yet read this book (it's sitting on my TBR pile), and I'm kind of wishing I read The Gathering before reading this one. It wasn't necessarily a spoiler read, but there's things that are mentioned that obviously happened in The Gathering. None the less, I still enjoyed it.

Let's Get This Show On The Road by Sarah Rees Brennan
Sarah's humor shines through with this story and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Her characters are always so well written and she has the best one liners that always make me laugh out loud. SRB fans will enjoy this short story!

Bridge by Jeri Smith- Ready
Logan's back! Okay, he's not really back, back, but this story is one Logan fans will love. All I'm going to say is it's about Logan and his brother Mickey and it's one that made me tear up a bit.

Skin Contact by Kimberly Derting
I really liked Rafe in Desires of the Dead and I loved being back in Kimberly's world. This short story is all about him and his abilities. It's definitely the most heart breaking out of all the short stories, and it's made me feel that much more drawn to him as a character.

Leaving by Ally Condie
Like Kami's short story, this is another one I'd love to see expanded into a fuller story. I adore Ally's writing and this story has a similar feel to it like that of Matched and Crossed. It's a great story and it's one I definitely want to read more of.

At The Late Night Double Feature by Jessica Verday
Girl Scouts, dental assistants and vampires make for a really fun read. Jessica's writing is fabulous. This story line is simple, fun and I like how she blends in humor with her paranormal characters. I'm a big fan of her storytelling and I'm hoping I'll get to read more of story in the near future.

I.V. League by Margaret Stohl
Margie creates a great setting with her story about a vampire trying to get into an Ivy league college. It's a good, short read that vampire fans will enjoy.

Gargouille by Mary E Pearson
More please! One word.... Etienne! I loved this story. It's uniquely refreshing with it's Gargoyle characters and it's sweet love story. I'm such a sucker for a paranormal romance and this story sucked me right in and left me wanting much more. I'm tempted to write Mary and beg to her write more! This story NEEDS to have it's own book.

The Third Kind by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
This story needs to be a book! I really like Jennifer's writing and the rich mythology is creates and she did a great job with The Third Kind. It's a story about two sisters who up and leave in the middle of the night to head to San Antonio, and in the process one ends up finding out her sister isn't who she thought she was. This story contains angels, guardians and the third kind.

Automatic by Rachel Caine
The Morganville Vampires are back! I should say Michael's back and along with him is Eve and Oliver. Even though I've not read all the books in the series, I really enjoyed this short story. Rachel definitely won't disappoint her fans with this read.

If you're a paranormal fan, I HIGHLY recommend picking this book up!

Enthralled Paranormal Diversions Melissa Marr Kelley Armstrong Books Reviews

I was intrigued by this collection of short stories. My favorite was “Leaving” by Ally Condie, whom I was privileged to hear speak at BYU earlier this year.

“Leaving” is, on the surface, a somewhat typical YA dystopian tale, full of warning and — of course — first love. However, Condie manages to give readers something much more meaningful in her representation of society two hundred years into the future as a civilization that lives in glass domes on an otherwise uninhabitable Earth and looks back to heroes known as the “Beautiful People,” who lived two hundred years before. These so-called heroes are most likely our contemporary movie stars, fashion models, and celebrities, people who smile and shine like actual stars. However, by the end of the short story, Sora—our protagonist—realizes that these “Beautiful People” are both less and more than what they seem They are simply people. Not heroes to be worshipped, but just people. Sora’s realization—and her subsequent escape from the bubble of her existence—takes on both a literal and a figurative meaning. Sora returns to her home never the same, and along the way she discovers truths about her father’s disappearance and about her relationship with Elio, the boy she’s always cared for. This story carries all it needs to be able to connect to both young adults and, indeed, readers of all other ages.
I really, really loved this book!!!! A lot of the short stories I fell in love with the characters. I am hoping that I get to see them down the road.

Giovanni's Farewell-Ravenna and Cairo go on a trip. Something is going on with Cairo that Ravenna can't figure out. When he tries to tell her, she pushes him away. All of a sudden, something happens to Ravenna that makes her a believer. There is something very special about these twins, and the best thing about it, is that they are in it together. This is a very good ghost story.

Scenic Route-Margie and Sally are hiding out in a cabin. These two sisters are hiding out from zombies. They also have to hide from people trying to break in and still there stuff. There is also a possible love interest in this story. I was very shocked with what happened

Red Run-This is another ghost story that I loved. I fell in love with Tommy!! People end of dead on Red Run. Edie's brother was even killed. Rumor has it that a ghost is doing the killing. Fabulous story!!!!

Things about Love-This story goes along with the book AS You Wish. I was so happy to get to Lawrence again. I wanted to know what happened to him. Viola, a jinn, shows up to learn about love. She believes that with a single kiss, she will learn all she needs to know. This story was so sweet and romantic.

Niederwald-This is set in the world of her Soul Screamer series. Emma and Sabine are on a road trip for a project, or at least that was what Emma thought. Of course, Sabine has her own agenda. She goes to Niederwald to see an oracle, then gets her and Emma in mess with the harpies. Love this series!!!!

Merely Mortal-This is set in the world of the Wicked Lovely series. We get to see Keenan and Donia take a vacation. It was so hilarious watching Keenan as a human. Poor Donia worries about him in this week state as she calls it.

Facing Facts-This is set in the world of her Darkest Powers series. OMG!!! This is one of my favorite series!!!! I was so happy to get to see Derek and Chloe again. And boy, Derek still hasn't changed. He still has lip.

Let's Get this Undead Show on the Road-I loved this story. Christian is the only vampire in his band. I felt really bad for Christian, but I really liked the ending. This was a great vampire story.

Bridge-Oh wow. I cried through the whole first book, and now I cried through the whole novella. I just love Logan!!! I love all the characters in this series. I feel for them. It is as if I am there. Mickey tore me to pieces in this story. I was so glad to get to see more of him.

Skin Contact-This is set in the world of the Body Finder series. I got too see a little of Rafe's background in this story, and what he is actually capable of. It was so sad. I was drawn to him even more by this story. Can't wait to read The Last Echo.

Leaving-I loved this story!!!!! Sora's father disappeared and she also became an untouchable. She kept her distance from everyone for a long time, because she knew that she would be leaving too. Elio is the only reason she is second guessing herself now. I hope I get to see more of this story down the road. Loved it!!!!

At the Late Night, Double Feature, Picture Show-This story was hilarious!!! I just loved it!!! I cracked up on the vampires especially when they started singing and dancing. I really liked Jane. Her family are supernatural hunters. She was sick of them always using her as bait. She wanted to do more so she snuck off and got into a lot of trouble.

IV League-This was another good vampire story. It's about a vampire named Wrennie who tries to get into an IV League school. The interview was so funny!!!

Gargouille-Loved, loved, loved, this story. Etienne...sigh. This gargoyle story was amazing, and the love story was beautiful. Giselle was captured, and her wings were cut off, When that happens, they become completely human forgetting everything but their name. It was simply beautiful.

The Third Kind-I am hoping to see more of this story down the road. It started off so good, but it kinda left with a cliffhanger. I want more!!! Kissy and Jess take off in the middle of the Night to go to San Antonio. Whenever Kissy gets these pulses, the sisters go do what Kissy feels that they have to do. Then it turns out, Jess is not who she thought she was. I loved this angel story. This needs to be made into a book!!!

Automatic-This story was set in the world of the Morganville series. This is also another of my favorite series. Watching Michael with the blood machine was hilarious. I can't wait to read the next book in the Morganville series!!!!

Great book!!!!! I recommend to all!!!!
